Tipplers Well-Planned than the Government?Andhra Pradesh Government brought all the liquor shops in the state under Government Control in a bid to control Liquor consumption in the state according to Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s Complete Prohibition Promise. The Government-run Liquor Shops operate only till 8 PM while Bars till 10 PM.

Usually, the Governments relax these timings till 1 AM on the eve of New year. But Jagan Government did not relax the timings this year but that did not affect the liquor consumption. On 31st December, the Liquor Sales amounts to 92 Crores. Usually, the Liquor Sales in Andhra Pradesh are around 50 Crore per day on average and it is almost double on New year day.

The sales are high in Vishakapatnam, East Godavari, Guntur, and Krishna districts. Even though there are timing restrictions, the consumption did not come down which indicates that the Tipplers are well-planned.

Similarly, 794 cases of Drunk and Driving were registered from 6 PM on December 31st to 6 AM on January 1st.
