Andhra Pradesh Government's Latest Stance on Capital ShiftComplete Liquor Prohibition by 2024 is one of the major electoral promises of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. It is the part of his Navaratnalu. The State Government claims to have done some work in that direction by taking over the Liquor Business. Now, there are questions on Jagan’s commitment levels.

Without the Government intervention, Liquor sale is banned in the state for around 40 days now. Earlier, Jagan wanted to implement the prohibition in phases to prevent withdrawal symptoms in those addicted. Now, that the liquor is anyways banned, Jagan Government should continue that even after the Lockdown.

In the third phase of Lockdown, the Union Government allowed Liquor Sale in Green Zones while ensuring minimum six feet distance from each other & ensuring that not more 5 persons are present at one time at the shop. If the Government is serious enough on complete prohibition, it should not start the Liquor shops in the Green Zones as well, the Opposition says.

Liquor along with Petrol and Diesel brings the maximum revenue to any state. So, it is a challenge to bring complete prohibition.
