The new strain of COVID-19 made its way to India as well. Ministry of Health and Family Welfare went on to say six returnees from the UK were tested positive for the new strain even as a total of 114 were tested positive.
In the bulletin released by the Ministry, there were two UK strain positives in AP and Telangana combined. But latest we hear is that Hyderabad-based CCMB tested 20 COVIDー19 samples. Out of which 3 have been found with the UK variant.
Among them, two are from Telangana and One from Andhra Pradesh. They are being treated in single room isolation in designated health care facilities. Comprehensive contact tracing has been initiated for their co-travelers, family contacts, and others.
We can only hope that these cases will not lead to a second wave in the country ahead of the new year.
