Things-Not-Easy-As-They-Appear-for-YS-JaganYS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s Government has tabled 2,27,974 Crore Budget for fiscal 2019-20. This is 19% more than the previous budget while YSR Congress says it has inherited debt trodden economy from the Telugu Desam Party. Around 75000 Crore has been allocated to the Social Welfare Schemes.

A majority of that is for the implementation of Jagan’s Navaratnalu promised during the Padayatra. While the allocations are great, the major challenge is to find funds. The government may have to impose more conditions in the identification of beneficiaries for various schemes to decrease the burden.

Except for the Pensions, the allocations for the remaining schemes looks unrealistic for now. Moreover, if the government is honest about its promise to implement phase-wise liquor prohibition, the revenues will go down further creating funds crunch further for the State Government.

Various Development Projects and Irrigation Projects have got a raw deal in this budget. Jagan intelligently bought some time by having separate dates for the implementation of each of his schemes. But that is more of temporary relief. The government has to pay huge money as interests every month. So things are not as easy as they appear.
