Temporary-Burials-of-Corona-Victims-in-New-York-Public-ParksThe United States has become the Epicenter of Coronavirus cases across the globe. Around 27% of the cases across the globe are in the United States. New York alone amounts to over 40% of the total cases in the United States. Deaths are also very high in the state.

There are rumors that the New York administration is considering temporary burials in public parks since the normal cemetery system and funeral home system are not running properly due to the Pandemic. This news spread like a wildfire scarring the already bewildered New Yorkers.

However, Mark D. Levine, the Chair of the New York City Council health committee later clarified that the administration has dropped the idea since the death rate dropped enough in the last few days and the contingency plan of temporary mass burials will not be necessary.

In case the need arises, they will be using Hart Island, located off City Island in the Bronx as the city’s public cemetery. The island is the final resting place for over 1 million individuals, with an estimated 30,000-50,000 burial plots remaining.
