Ramatheertham TempleDesecration of Temples has become a norm in Andhra Pradesh ever since YS Jagan Mohan Reddy came to power. It is natural that the incidents become very popular since the Chief Minister is a Christian and his family has Christian evangelists. While it is not easy to ascertain facts behind these attacks, let us consider some points here indicating all possibilities:

Point #1: Some miscreants who are into evangelism may have got emboldened with ‘their’ Chief Minister in CM Chair. It may have started as stray incidents but mass hysteria and the Government doing nothing to safeguard its vote bank may have prompted more such rogues to vandalize temples. Christians do not have a history of attacking temples. There is also no incidents of Hindus bringing down Mosques before Babri.

Point #2: TDP may be behind them to destabilize the Government. Firstly, TDP never had a history of attacking temples. The party bosses are staunch devotees and are unlikely to take any risk. Moreover, if we look at the previous incidents, TDP did not try to use these incidents to their political benefit. Only in the Ramatheertham issue, Chandrababu finally thought enough is enough.

Point #3: It is quite natural that BJP is suspected to be the culprit. The party that is formed on religious lines is trying to strengthen in Andhra Pradesh. Moreover, there is a by-election in Tirupati. And such incidents became high in the run-up to the Tirupati by-poll.
