The American Community Survey has revealed the data for 2016 which was released in Slast month say Telugu is the third most widely spoken Indian language in the United States. Hindi Tops the list followed by Gujarati.
Bengali and Tamil are the next places after Telugu. Even though Urdu is the second most spoken Indian language, the survey had also included the people of Pakistan hence it is not on the list of most spoken Indian languages.
As per the census, 3,65,566 people at age over five speak Telugu at home. That is about 0.12% of the US population over the age of five which is 30,33,28,961. Telugu is also the 20th most spoken language in the United States.
