Andhra pradesh and Telangana leads in number of HIV casesIndia homing 21.7 Lakh HIV infected people, is the third-highest number of HIV-infected people in the world after South Africa and Nigeria. Both the Telugu states put together, have 3.94 Lakh HIV cases which is the highest in the country. Following next are Maharashtra, Karnataka, Bihar and Gujarat.

In Telangana, Karimnagar leads in the number of HIV infections while in AP, Guntur has more HIV cases than any other district. This was revealed by Union Health Minister JP Nadda tabling a report ‘The India HIV estimation 2015 report’ in Parliament few days ago. The report underlines the need of immediate redressal steps.

The lack of proper sex education and information about how HIV virus can be spread through unprotected sex and also through indiscriminate usage of injection needles and other sources. Over the years, governments have done very little to control skin trade which is the main reason for spreading of this life threatening disease.
