People in Telangana are becoming increasingly suspicious about the state government’s strategy of dealing with the Corona Crisis. While WHO says Testing, Tracing, and Treating is the key for the fight against Corona, Telangana is one state with the least testing in the country.
A report in TOI now says that new directions have been issued to health authorities restricting the number of samples to be taken in a day in districts and in areas falling under Greater Hyderabad. Oral instructions were given to test no more than 30 samples in an area in a day.
If the samples are tested in Greater Hyderabad limits, the entire area is taken as one unit. Similarly, in districts, the town is taken as one unit. However, the authorities still claim that they are following the ICMR guidelines and refusing to comment further.
According to the medical bulletin released last night, Telangana has got 4,737 cases. More than 75% of the cases are from the Capital Region, GHMC. The state also recorded 182 casualties and again, the majority are from GHMC.
