The first budget of the newly formed Telangana state is taking longer than expected to come out. The budget session in the new state was supposed to begin from September 10th but Chief Minister K Chandra Sekhar Rao ordered a complete revamp of the budget figures to fit in to the government’s vision. The Chief Minister had formed 14 task force committees to prepare the budget and postponed the budget session to October 6th.

But many of the 14 committees fell short of preparing the proposals. The draft budget preparation was to begin from Friday but now the schedule is totally derailed. The Chief Minister who held a review meeting on Friday expressed his displeasure on the delay and asked the officials to speed up the process so that the budget session will go from October 6th or 7th as planned earlier.

It is already known that the state government has come under criticism for delaying the budget sessions and trying to bring out the vote on account budget through an ordinance so that the government can spend money from the consolidated fund for the next three months. Many say bringing the budget through ordinance in the new state will amount to constitutional violation. However Telangana government defends its action by saying they are going to Telanganize the budget to ensure maximum good to the people of the new state.
