Telangana wants to change the rules after the match!Usually rules are set before the start of the game. But can they be altered after the game to change the result. Sounds insane! Right? But Telangana government wants to do exactly the same. As per the AP Reorganisation Act-2014, 15 percent seats in all medical, dental, engineering and pharmacy colleges have to be offered to students in both states based on Eamcet merit irrespective of their nativity.

Inter marks carry 25 per cent weightage in Eamcet ranks. However in recent Inter 2nd year results, AP recorded 72 percent pass percentage while Telangana just managed 61 percent. To make sure that AP students do not bag a majority of the 15 per cent seats in top colleges in TS. Telangana officials are of the opinion that ,less than 5 percent of TS students would manage to secure seats under open quota when compared with Inter marks of AP students.

Telangana government is planning to adopt “normalisation method” for AP marks to ensure more seat for TS students along the lines of JEE (Main), wherein the 10+2 marks across all the boards in the country are given 40% weightage. However Andhra Pradesh government and Educational Experts say this is unjust as the rules as such should be announced prior to the EAMCET notification and can not be changed midway.
