Hearing a petition filed in the High court regarding the legal sanctity of the Telangana Survey, Telangana Advocate General has informed the court that the Survey is not mandatory. Agreeing to the view, the high court confirmed that it is totally the wish of the people to participate in the survey or not. The court also added that government should not force people to give personal details like bank accounts and mobile numbers.

Telangana Advocate General has informed the court that the survey only intends to better the existing welfare schemes and people are participating voluntarily in it. He reiterated that it is not at all an intrusion in the private lives of the people. On the other side, experts say the high court may take up the issue ‘ non participants not eligible for government welfare schemes’ in its next hearing in this case.
