Telangana seeks return of rare wealth from Andhra PradeshAndhra Pradesh government is already in touch with Tamil Nadu to bring back the Buddhist sculptures and artifacts from Amaravati moved to the government museum at Egmore in Chennai when Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions were part of the combined Madras State.

The state government wants to make Amaravati an abode of Buddhist culture by bringing those artifacts, considered as rare wealth bank. However Telangana government seeks the return of some of the artifacts from Andhra Pradesh government.

Telangana government recently wrote to its AP counterpart to return the wealth of heritage taken in 2006 from Nagarjunasagar and Hyderabad museums during the Kalachakra event at Amaravati. AP government is yet to take a formal decision on this.
