The prestigious Osmania University of Telangana is gearing up to celebrate its centenary in April but is flooded with the obligations to confer honorary doctorates. As many as 50 names were proposed for the doctorate which includes Telangana Chief Minister, K Chandrasekhara Rao and his daughter, Kavitha.
A group has put forth the name of former union minister and Congress leader G Venkata Swamy and another group proposed the name of Gaddar. while Congress leaders and JAC members of OU demanded that All India Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s name is considered for the doctorate for granting the Separate State.
All these names are proposed for their contribution to Telangana Cause. As of now, Osmania is considering to confer the doctorate to the Telangana Chief Minister but is not in a position to refuse others since it will give rise to political controversies.
The University officials would definitely do not want such controversies at the Centenary Event. But then Osmania University is not in a position to refuse these proposals as TRS is the ruling party of Telangana and Telangana Sentiment is prevalent in the state and could not be ignored.
