Telangana--No Cabinet Till FebruaryTelangana may have to continue without a full-fledged cabinet till the end of the month. The other day, Telangana State Election Commission had announced the schedule for the Panchayat elections in the state. The Polling will be held in three phases on January 21st, 25th, and 30th.

As soon as the schedule is announced, the election code came into effect. Election Commission has informed the Government that it can not convene the Assembly Sessions without their consent. Likewise, the Cabinet Expansion is also not allowed until the model code of conduct is withdrawn.

That means the cabinet can be formed only in February. Telangana has only the Chief Minister and a Home Minister in Mahmood Ali till now. Even the MLAs who have won in the elections are yet to take the oath. It means Telangana will not have the cabinet in place for at least 54 days after the election results.

The number will go up further depending on the available auspicious day in February. Reports are coming in that the administration is on a downslide with no ministers and several files are piling up in various departments. Sadly, it is a man-made disaster which could have been easily avoided.
