Six Term MLA of Charminar from MIM Party, Mumtaz Ahmad will be the Pro-tem Speaker of Telangana Assembly. KCR has given this Opportunity to the MIM MLA so as to strengthen the Relations with the party. The pro-term speaker is the functionary who performs the duties of the speaker until he/she is elected when a new Assembly is formed.
Usually, it is one of the senior most members of the Assembly, the powers of pro-tem speaker are not defined according to the constitution but it is an honorary Position. It may be mentioned that earlier, Mumtaz Ahmad Khan was the MLA from Yakutpura Assembly Constituency, however, in 2018 TS Assembly Polls, he won Charminar Assembly Seat.
On the other side, the First Assembly Session which will ensure the elected MLAs to take the oath will happen on 17th of this month. Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is flying to Dubai from tomorrow on a one week trip. The Assembly Session is planned after his Arrival
