MLA Shravan KumarTelangana government was heavily criticized for blocking the Government Orders website of the state, February this year. The opposition parties are alleging that this move is intended to have no transparency in expenditures of the government, there by curbing the right to information of the citizens.

Congress Leader Sravan challenged the action of the state in denying public access to this website. He termed the state government’s decision as arbitrary, contrary to the provisions of the constitution and goes against the spirit of the Right to Information Act. However the lawyers of the government refuted these claims.

They informed the court that they are not cutting off public access. They added that they IT wing is redesigning the GOs website. Once some changes are effected, it will restore access to the general public. The judge gave him till Monday to inform the court about the possible time they will take to restore access to the website.
