Telangana Government Goes Back on Revolutionary IdeaTelangana Government which has planned to abolish all the ration shops in the state and go for Direct Benefit Transfer of Cash to the beneficiaries’ accounts has now backtracked from the proposal at least until the next elections.

The Chief Minister commissioner a rapid survey through the intelligence department on DBT and also after taking various issues into consideration, decided to continue with the existing system of distributing rice through ration shops.

According to the survey, 70 percent beneficiaries, especially women, are opposed to the proposal of direct cash transfer. Since that may have adverse implications on the party’s electoral prospects in the next general elections, the government dropped the idea.
