Telangana in Financial Quagmire Just in in Second Month of the FiscalWe are just into the Second month of the current financial year, Telangana government is already in a financial crisis as it struggles to pay even pending bills of the previous year and the bills are mounting due to non-payment.

The present financial liabilities of the state government are about 10000 crores including pending bills. Of this, about 5000 crores are related to pending bills of various departments of the previous year. The government even diverted 1000 Crore of Centrally Sponsored Schemes and is yet to release the amount to the departments.

The government also has 3000 Crore pending to the employees towards Pay Revision Commission Arrears which the government is delaying for a long time. Despite the state claiming to have registered the highest increase in the income rate, the financial doldrums exists.
