traffic police pollutionTelangana Police may always ready to face the bullets but they are weaking in the fight with their own health ailments. A study revealed that Telangana police are losing their lives more because of health ailments like cardiac, lung and liver diseases than bullets. It is estimated that atleast 36% of Hyderabad Traffic Police may be suffering from pulmonary diseases due to the ill effects of pollution.

The reports of other towns in Telangana were not good either. An in depth study by the Allergy and Asthma Network of India (AANI) revealed that 60 out of 300 (20%) traffic personnel suffered from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), 20% had high blood pressure, and 30% (90) complained of severe headache, neck pain and other stress-related issues.

They say inadequate rest, odd food timings, work-related stress and even addiction to liquor for the waning health of cops, especially those who have crossed the age of 40 are causing major health problems to Police Personnel in the newest state of the country. Recently Telangana government decided to make yearly health check-ups compulsory for all cops which is expected to better the situation.
