Telangana Braces Up for Crucial Period in Corona CrisisCoronavirus cases are constantly increasing across the country. Even though the situation is not dangerous, no sight of the cases dipping has emerged as the major cause of worry. In this precarious situation, the Ramadan month is fast approaching. The holy month for Muslim Brethren will begin from April 23rd.

Ramadan month is known for its mass prayers and gatherings. It will be a challenge for the Government to refrain from the community from doing so. Incorrect handling of the issue can lead to communal problems. This assumes significance since a majority of cases in India are linked to the Nizamuddin Markaz event in Delhi.

In Telangana, Of the 840 cases so far, 693 are those with a Delhi travel history and their contacts. That translates to 82 percent and the majority of the Corona cases are from Hyderabad. Telangana Government is preparing for this in advance. Government officials are trying to sensitize the community elders and clerics about the need to stay indoors and avoid mass gatherings.

Telangana will be entering a crucial phase in the Ramadan month and the future will depend on how it is handled. As of now, the state is keen on extending the complete Lockdown until May 3rd. If the pace at which the cases are increasing now is still on, we may see a further increase in the Lockdown.
