The fortunes of the ruling Telugu Desam Party have taken a quick turnaround in Kurnool district. The party is weak in the district till 2014 and managed to get only two seats here. But then, after coming to power, the party has focused on the district.
Now, the party has the problem of too many leaders here. Several seats in the districts have more than one aspirant for 2019 elections and the party leadership will have a tough time managing them. The lone MLC seat which fell vacant due to Shilpa Chakrapani Reddy has many aspirants.
Gangula Pratap Reddy, Abhiruchi Madhu, and Subbareddy are seeking this MLC seat. The party high command will take a decision basing on the needs of 2019 elections. The MLC is of Local Bodies Category and YSR Congress will also fancy its chances.
