TDP Teaches A Lesson for Itself Knowingly or UnknowinglyTirupati By-election results came as expected but there is more than what the eye meets. YSR Congress even though won is not happy, the party was expecting anywhere between 3.5 Lakh to 5 Lakh Majority but fell short. On the other side, TDP has polled around 3.5 Lakh votes which is a total surprise.

Tirupati was supposed to be a tough turf for TDP because of the population demography, natural and unnatural advantage to the Ruling Party, and also the current political climate wherein the party is low on its morale. But then, Chandrababu and Lokesh buckled up for the election. They have tried to stay close to the people as much as possible and campaigned extensively.

Lokesh, in particular, camped totally in the constituency. This should be a lesson for the party from its own experience. The quantitative change in the political atmosphere can only be achieved by staying with the people. With COVID excuse, it can not be achieved sitting in the party offices and having Pressmeets making routine allegations and comments.

TDP supporters will hope that their leadership already realized it as Lokesh took up the issue of Exams cancellation and relentlessly fought until the Government stepped down and postponed the elections. This is Lokesh’s first big political success. Identifying the issues troubling the people and fighting on them is the only way out.
