The Principal Opposition Party, Telugu Desam Party is doing a decent job in cornering the State Government on various issues. The party had rejigged its social media strategy which is helping it a bit. YSR Congress is also indirectly helping TDP’s cause with self-goals on various issues.
However, the party is missing out on a proper legal fight against the Government. During Chandrababu Naidu’s tenure, YSR Congress used to approach the courts on almost every issue and delay things. On a few issues, Mangalagiri MLA, RK would approach the courts and on some sensitive issues, YSR Congress sympathizers in the garb of common people would file the cases.
As a result, the then government would lose precious time in fighting these cases. Even though not many cases were won by the Opposition, that approach ensured that people felt like something wrong is happening in the state. Public perception ensured that Chandrababu is confined to Opposition. However, this approach is totally missing in TDP.
Forget about all the issues, even the issues which deserve a legal fight are also not being taken up. For example, the media gag order should have been dragged to the court but that did not happen. It looks like TDP is waiting for someone to do that for it which is unlikely to happen always.
