Former Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu meeting Janasena President Pawan Kalyan has become a sensation in Andhra Politics. It’s their first meeting of them after their break up in 2018.
Chandrababu extended solidarity to Pawan Kalyan over recent attack at Vishakapatnam Airport. The meeting has triggered speculations of a new alliance as Pawan Kalyan already expressed his displeasure over BJP.
A possibility of TDP and Janasena alliance is on cards for a while but YSR Congress’s attack and insult on Pawan Kalyan may have quickened the alliance chances.
Assuming that the vote transfer will happen, TDP and Janasena can be a deadly combination because it will make war one-side in Coastal Andhra.
The gap between TDP/Janasena candidate and YSR Congress will be massive in at least 35 constituencies. YSR Congress took a big hit in Urban areas with its over focus on freebies.
If the caste equations work and TDP and Janasena put up their regular performance in rural areas, it will be Gameover for YSR Congress.
But then, for this to happen, a section of TDP and Janasena Supporters should set their ego aside and ensure that vote transfer will happen keeping their cinema rivalry aside.
The cadres of the grassroots are in favor of the alliance. The vote transfer has happened between both the parties during local elections. There is also a polarization in Kapu community against YSR Congress which will also help the alliance.
Another challenge is to ensure right combination of seat sharing. Janasena should adopt flexible policy with winning to be the only aim. On TDP’s part, it should ensure Janasena get reasonable number of seats along with Pawan Kalyan going to assembly.
