Telugu Desam Party had unconditionally supported the Union Government’s move to repeal Article 370. Despite the differences with BJP, TDP had decided to support the move in the larger interests of the nation. Rajya Sabha MP Kanakamedala Ravindra Babu supported the Government’s decision in the Upper House.
“Telugu Desam Party supports the Union Govt as it seeks to repeal Article 370. I pray for the peace and prosperity of the people of J&K,” Chandrababu Naidu tweeted. “I welcome the decision of the Union Govt to scrap Article 370. I hope that the people of J&K witness peace and development,” Lokesh also tweeted.
Parties like BSP, YSR Congress, SP, BJD, AAP which are not in the NDA have also supported the movie. Congress, JDU, MDMK, DMK, PDP, and NCP have protested against this move of the government terming it as anti-constitutional.
On the other side, with the bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir, India will have 28 states and 9 Union Territories.
