Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Nirmala Sita Raman currently do not belong to any house of the parliament. According to the law, any minister who is not a representative of any house of Parliament should become the member of Parliament within six months. Andhra Pradesh has one vacant Rajya Sabha seat due to the demise of Nedurumalli Janardhan Reddy. With the numbers of MP, TDP will easily get this seat but Chandra Babu wants it to offer to Nirmala Sita Raman so as to maintain good terms with the NDA government.

Neduramalli Janardhan Reddy’s term will end in 21st June, 2016. His seat has been allocated to Andhra Pradesh state during distributing the existing Rajya Sabha MPs between Andhra and Telangana states. Notification for the bielection to this seat will be issued on June 16 and the last date for filing nominations is June 23. Scrutiny will be on June 24 and last date for withdrawals is June 26. Counting of votes will be on July 3. In all probability Nirmala Sita Raman will be elected with out competition.
