Edappadi Palaniswami has conveniently won the Trust Vote in Tamil Nadu Assembly. Everyone expected that the MLAs will vote as per their conscience once they are free from the Golden Bay Resort and will choose Amma’s Choice (O Paneerselvam).
There is a widespread anger in the people over Sasikala and many thought the MLAs will budge to the pressure but then it all proved wrong. MLAs have chosen power at hand to the mid-term elections. This incident draws parallel to the behaviour of Telangana Congress leaders during the agitation days.
People back then used to pressurize Telangana Congress leaders to resign as that would rein the Congress high command. But then, Congress leaders stood on the high command side ignoring the people. Both the incidents proved that MLAs do not mind Public Sentiment and people’s opinion matter only during the elections.
But then Telangana Congress Leaders paid a hefty price for the arrogance in 2014 elections. Even Political bigshots have lost the election from their strongest turfs in that election. If O Paneerselvam can tap the people’s sentiment correctly, the fate will be the same for AIADMK MLAs as well.
