YSR Congress Government is pitching three capitals idea to counter Amaravati, the grandiose capital planned by Chandrababu Naidu. Even though it is three capitals for all legal purposes, the actual idea is to promote Vishakapatnam as the capital of Andhra Pradesh.
But then, there are reports that even the people of Vishakapatnam are not buying the idea. In the 2019 elections, TDP managed to win only four out of the total fifteen assembly segments in the Vishakapatnam district. All four are the constituencies of Vizag City.
According to a survey conducted in June 2021, TDP will win nine of the fifteen leaving only six for Vishakapatnam. All the four constituencies of Vizag City are once again going to TDP. The same agency opines that things will only get better for TDP as the anti-incumbency is increasing against Jagan Government.
If this turns out to be true, it will be a disaster for YSR Congress. There are rumors that after getting similar inputs from intelligence agencies, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy withdrew the bills pertaining to the three capitals.
