Yet another day and yet another adverse judgement for Andhra Pradesh Government. This time it is from the Supreme Court. The Apex court upheld the judgement of the High Court and refused to issue a stay on the court orders. The High Court wronged the Government’s move to use the lands given by the farmers for the Housing for the Poor Scheme.
Amaravati Parirakshana Samiti approached the Court saying that such a move is against the Land Pooling Agreements. The Government already changed the Capital Master Plan to accommodate lands for the Housing Schemes. The High Court issued a stay on the land distribution unless the final judgement in the case. It looks are things are not favor for the Government in this issue.
The Government opined that once the Poor occupies the lands no Political Party would dare to agitate against such a move and that will put an end to Amaravati agitation. But before anything else, the Court interfered. 29,481 farmers have given 34,322 acres of land in the Land Pooling Policy of Chandrababu Naidu for the construction of Amaravati.
Among these farmers, 5,227 farmers have given One to Two acres of land while another 3,337 farmers have given Two to Five acres of land. So, it will be the small and medium scale farmers that will be the most affected due to the Government’s decision. The farmers have rested all their hopes on the Courts to save their interests.
