SC Serious On Jagan Govt For Diverting Funds To PD AccountsSupreme Court on Wednesday, asked the Andhra Pradesh government to stop transferring funds from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) to the personal deposit accounts.

This fund is constituted to help the kin and families of those who lost their members due to COVID-19.

The court ordered the government not to divert the funds for any other purpose than that provided under the Disaster Management Act, 2005.

A Bench comprising Justices M.R. Shah and B.V. Nagarathna took a serious view of this illegal transfer which is a violation of the provisions of the Disaster Management Act and also the Appropriation Act.

AP Government has this habit of transferring funds to PD accounts for freebie schemes without utilizing them for the actual purpose.

This time such a move hits the families who lost their members due to COVID-19.

According to the guidelines, these funds should be used to help the kin/family members of the persons who have lost their lives to COVID-19 to the tune of 50,000 Rupees.
