The Supreme Court heard Kadapa MP YS Avinash Reddy‘s anticipatory bail petition today. The Apex Court rejected Avinash’s plea seeking protection from CBI arrest.
The Supreme Court has given instructions to the vacation bench of the High Court to hear the petition on the 25th of this month. It has been clarified that all the parties will have to make their arguments before the vacation bench.
The bench said that it is not going into the merits of the case but opined CBI is delaying the arrest of the MP.
The Counsel representing Avinash Reddy requested the court to give an order to the CBI not to arrest Avinash until the High Court hears the petition and delivers its verdict. But the Apex Court refused to intervene.
The other day, the CBI tried to arrest Avinash in Kurnool but then, the local police did not cooperate and the arrest did not happy. YSR Congress cadres formed a fortress around Avinash and threatened dire consequences if he is arrested.
It has to be seen how the CBI responds now. Meanwhile, Avinash is still in the Viswa Bharathi Hospital of Kurnool and is being guarded by YSR Congress cadres from all sides.
