supreme-court kcr vemuri radha krishnaFinally justice was done to ABN-Andhrajyothy after more than 500 days of illegal blocking of the channel. Supreme court a short while ago instructed Telangana MSOs and Union Information and Broadcasting Ministry to immediately resume the transmission of the channel. The supreme court opined that the grounds in which ABN is banned in the state are not at all acceptable and will amount to restricting the freedom of the press.

This will be a huge blow to Telangana government as ABN is creating a rampage on the government’s shortcomings. This order of the Supreme court just ahead of the Warangal by-election and the crucial GHMC elections will trouble the ruling party big time.

The services of TV9 and ABN-Andhrajyothy were barred by the MSOs immediately after KCR assumed power. The channels were banned by the MSOs of the region after Telangana Chief Minister K Chandra Sekhar Rao slammed them in Assembly for airing derogatory and false news on the region and the newly elected government. Even though the ban was imposed on the name of MSOs, the intent behind it is always an open secret.
