Jagan Supreme CourtThe government of Andhra Pradesh imposed a new Government Order restricting political parties from holding public meetings and rallies. This drew stern criticism from all political outfits.

A petition was filed in the High Court, where the G.O. 1 was suspended. The High Court ordered the government to file an affidavit and stated that they haven’t an order like this even in the British Raj.

The government of AP appeared to have anticipated this already as they filed a special leave petition in the Supreme Court, expecting an order in favor of their GO.

But incidentally, the Supreme Court didn’t even listen to the plea filed by the government of Andhra Pradesh. The Petition is not listed today even though it is in schedule. The Court may hear it tomorrow.

The government hoped for a Supreme Court order in their favor in order to irk Lokesh’s Padayatra starting on 27 January.

The idea was to try and stop Lokesh’s Yatra using the GO, which is currently suspended by the High Court. But with Supreme Court not even listening to the plea, it should be seen how the government will react to the same.
