YS Jagan Government had backtracked on the decision to rename Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Pratiba Puraskar to YS Vidya Puraskar. This is an award given to the best performing 10th class students. This decision of the Government had invoked a lot of anger from the Social Media Junta pressurizing the government to change its stance.
Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has told officials that award will be reinstated back to APJ Abdul Kalam Pratiba Puraskar and claimed ignorance of the G.O. This incident comes only a week after a Tricolour was defaced by the YSR Congress flag on Thammadepalli Gram Panchayat office building.
After severe criticism on the social media, the government suspended the Panchayat Secretary as an eyewash and later repainted the Tricolour on the Panchayat building. Only to prevent such instances in the future, the government brought in a G.O. delegating Powers to Secretaries of Respective Departments to lodge complaints and to file appropriate legal cases against defamatory news items
The government also brought Social Media under this G.O. along with the mainstream media.
