Telangana gets a blank in the first round of Smart Cities announced by the Central government while Andhra Pradesh gets two – Vishakapatnam and Kakinada. The center had announced a list of 20 Smart Cities which will get Center’s help of Rs 50,802 crores has been proposed in these cities during the five-year period.
97 cities were in this race but only 20 made it to final list. The selected cities will be equipped with basic infrastructure, efficient urban mobility and public transport, IT connectivity and e-governance mechanisms.
Telangana CM, KCR condemned this and said Venkaiah Naidu has to answer for the indifference metted to Telangana in this issue. This is likely to become a new issue for TRS against BJP in GHMC elections.
