Sivarama Krishnan Committee Member Thumbs Up to AmaravatiDr. Jagan Shah, one of the members of K Sivarama Krishnan Committee appointed to decide the new capital of Andhra Pradesh said that there was no disagreement over choosing Vijayawada as the capital of Andhra Pradesh as the committee was in favor of Vijayawada as administrative capital even back then.

“Our only issue with Vijayawada was that the government land availability for the new capital. If not Vijayawada was an ideal choice for the capital. But the state government brought out Land Pooling to bypass the problem,” Jagan Shah said.

“It is always wise to build the new capital along with an existing city and the present government is exactly doing the same,” Jagan Shah observed. Reacting on how Amaravati is shaping up according to him, he said that he too excited to see the final outcome.

“The city development is being done with a lot of far sited planning. All the capital cities in various countries have stood as icons and I am sure with the kind of planning involving international players, Amaravati will standalone as a futuristic capital city,” Jagan Shah said.
