YS Jagan reddyNinnu Nammam Babu is the popular election slogan of the YSR Congress during the 2019 elections. But three years after coming to power, Ninnu Nammam Jagan has taken its place at least as far as the contractors are concerned. The Government has canceled the tender of Machilipatnam Port Development for the second time.

After no response the first time, the tenders were canceled and norms were eased to attract the contractors. The Government extended the time frame four times but not a single bid has come. With nothing to do, the tenders were canceled again. This is not a simple project. It is worth 3,650 Crore Rupees in the first phase itself.

The Jagan Government has earned a dubious distinction of not paying the contractors. 1000s of Crores are pending with the Government and the contractors have to go to court to get them. Contractors are losing their own money due to interests. Hence, they have migrated to other states are doing works there. Getting no response has become almost a norm for all government contracts in AP.

Surprisingly, Government contractors are hotcakes and would have immense lobbying. But everything has changed with the change of government. Sometimes the Government would show allocations for a particular project and would divert the funds by the time of completion. So, contractors are not ready to trust the government anymore.
