telangana entry taxThe state education department of Telangana is very disturbed over the poor attendance at government schools as it nearly 60% lower than the number of enrollments. The surprise checks in various districts of the state revealed that most children who were enrolled in schools were back again to work in agricultural fields.

Enrollment in undivided Andhra Pradesh days from Class I to V slipped from 74 lakh in 2005-06 to 72 lakh in 2013-14. The dropouts are more during crop seasons where labourers send their children to work in fields. Even small farmers instead of employing labour with high wages, making their kids to work dropping school.

Lack of enough teachers for schools is also a reason for the dropouts. According to the reports with the government, only 21.6% schools at the primary level have a pupil-teacher ratio (PTR) of 30:1 and only 9.9% schools at the upper primary level have a PTR greater than 35:1.
