Seven years ago on the same day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid foundation for Amaravati Capital City. Amaravati has been envisioned as a future city and growth engine for the entire state once it is complete.
But then, the legal issues hampered the development and election result in 2019 changed its fate. To win 2019, Amaravati has been branded as Kamma Capital and the farmers who gave their lands as Binamis and looters.
YSR Congress which came to power saying that it will continue the capital intelligently brought three capitals to dilute the concept of Amaravati and brought the entire Capital to a standstill.
After seven years, Amaravati has become a ghost city. The buildings were abandoned and there are instances of roads were dug and the gravel is stolen.
Amaravati Farmers were on streets fighting for their rights. For all that they did, they had to endure kicks and dragging by the Police and abuses and physical attacks by the Ruling party leaders and cadre.
Amid all this, Amaravati stands tall along with the farmers who parted with their lands for better days to come and a change of fate.
