Gopalakrishna Dwivedi - Nilam SawhneyAndhra Pradesh High Court has once again served notices to Former Chief Secretary Neelam Sawhney and Panchayat Raj Principal Secretary Gopalakrishna Dwivedi. The court ordered them to appear before it. This is in connection to the contempt of the court case.

Both of them did not follow the orders of the State Election Commissioner despite the fact the Model Code of Conduct is in force in the state. Despite the court asking the officers to obey the orders of the SEC, they did not respond toeing in line with Government’s order.

Jagan Government asked them not to co-operate with the SEC until the Supreme Court disposes of the petition. Neelam Sawhney recently retired as the Chief Secretary and was appointed as a Government Adviser. Both of them were asked to appear before the court in the next hearing which will happen towards the end of March.

Both the officers were senior IAS officers but still co-operated with the Government only. Interestingly, Dwivedi worked as the Election Commissioner and also conducted the last General Elections.
