Ram Lal hails from Tohana town of Fatehabad district, Chandigarh. He is a graduate in sports science and a diploma holder in physical education and successfully hoisted India flag at the world’s highest peak in Nepal in May this year. On this phenomenal achievement, he was promised an employment with the State Government and a cash award of Rs 5 lakh by chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
But none of those happened and Ram Lal was forced to sell fruits and vegetables on a cart. His father was recently bedridden due to a spinal cord injury. On the other side, another Mount Everest climber Mamta Sodha was appointed as the deputy superintendent of police and awarded Rs 21 lakh for her achievement. The young mountaineer is dejected at being ignored by the state government and political leaders
