SC Temporarily stays Municipal Elections results
The Supreme Court today issued a temporary stay on the Municipal election results. Hearing to the petition to stay results till the completion of General elections, Supreme court issued the stay. Election Commission argued that it can not hold the results for longer. Supreme Court ordered the EC to come up with a detailed explanation of why it could not hold the results and posted the case to April 7th.

It is known that High Court refused to stay on Municipal election results and asked the Election commission to take up the counting and results announcement on May 9th. Municipal election results are deemed as the Semifinals to the general elections. With the wide publicity in media, the petitioners argue that these results can influence voters during General elections. On similar lines, Supreme court also issued a stay on MPTC/ZPTC election results until the completion of general elections.
