Andhra Pradesh Government has come under severe criticism for trying to sell film tickets and mutton. People were critical of the Government saying it has failed in the discharge of its duties and getting into petty businesses like this. The Government had to come before the media and issue a clarification.
Minister Perni Nani had to clarify that selling film tickets is just a proposal and a final decision is not taken yet. Another Minister Sidiri Appalaraju has informed the media that there is no proposal to start Mutton Marts. On both occasions, the Government has taken a backstep after criticism.
Now Sakshi media has carried a report that Government is keen on entering Hotel and Restaurant Business. The report said Government wants to take some private hotels and restaurants on lease. “The Government will develop businesses by providing good food and facilities and thereby will also provide employment,” the report said.
This has evoked similar criticism once again on social media and the memes have started flowing in. Keeping aside the criticism, Hotel and Tourism industry is one of the worst affected businesses across the globe due to the pandemic. Government venturing into this business at this juncture does not make any sense.
