YS-Jagan - Mohan ReddyToday is April 4th and the Government employees and pensioners in Andhra Pradesh did not get their salaries paid. The Government coffers are empty and sources say that it is yet to send the bills of salaries and pensions to the RBI for disbursal.

Usually, this exercise will be completed by the 25th of the previous month. Most of the employees will have their EMIs coming up between the 5th and 10th of every month and they face the danger of skipping those EMIs which means more problems.

The Government has been exhausting all its revenues for populism and even exhausted the loan limits available. But then, the new financial year has started and the government is hoping to get loans from somewhere with the newly available loan limits.

As things stand today, the salaries are likely to be paid only after April 8th and the pensions may be delayed further. Interestingly, the Government has given top priority to the clearance of 1,110 Crore bills at this juncture. The opposition is alleging that the bills belong to the contractors of the ruling party.
