Images of Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi’s daughter lying on a hospital bed with Afridi watching over and one of a child wrapped in a white cloth and with rose petals on her body have gone viral on social media sites like Twitter and Facebook. These images come with captions like ‘Shahid Afridi’s daughter has passed away’ or state that she has died of cancer.
Apparently, Asmara, Afridi’s daughter, was suffering from some illness and recently underwent a surgery. Afridi recently, in a post, stated that “A warm hug from my loving daughter Asmara after her surgery, made me feel complete. Thanks everyone for remembering her in your prayers” confirming her illness.
It is said that the baby wrapped in a white cloth is a look-alike of Cricketer’s daughter Asmara. While there has been no concrete confirmation of her being alive, Afridi’s post can be taken as one invalidating the death rumours. Let us hope that it remains as one more fake news went viral on social media.
