H1-B VisaThe latest on the H1-B processing for those laid off by various tech companies in the US is that there is all possibility that the grace period will be extended to 180 days vis-a-vis 60 days.

However, there is no official confirmation, though strong rumors are doing rounds raising hopes of Indians waiting anxiously for some good news.

It is known that it has been a season of lay-offs for Indians working on H1-B visas in the US, though the US immigration service center has given 60 days grace period for those laid off. If one can find a job in the US during this period, then one can continue to stay back in the US.

However, if they fail to do so, then they will be sent back to India and this is a big blow to the 30% Indian workforce. Though there are optimistic stories about the immigration office extending the timeline, US officials say there is no such plan for now.
