KCR_CinemA-cITYIt is known that Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has announced a Film City of International Standards at Rachakonda area, nearby to National Highway 65 (Hyderabad to Vijayawada) as well as to Hyderabad. Telangana government however has hit a roadblock in its proposal.

The officials have informed the CM that more than 9,000 acres in Samsthan Narayanpur mandal of Rachakonda area is recognised as forest. Now any changes to that land for utilisation, occupation or construction activities there require permission from the central government.

Also there is 400 acres of vacant hillocks in Rachakonda is proposed by the Central government for setting up Field Firing Range and as per directions of the Centre, 5,630 acre land was already allotted to Bharat Dynamics Limited for the purpose five years ago. The proposal was on hold on the resistance of the locals. And the third important factor against the Cinema City is that the entire area is a hotbed of Maoists.
