BJP Wave may be gripping the entire nation but the party is struggling in both the Telugu States. In the recent assembly elections, BJP managed a single seat in Telangana and failed to open its account in Andhra Pradesh. However, Riding on Modi Wave, BJP managed Four MP seats in Telangana.
Since then, the party’s state leaders have become Paper Tigers and are dreaming big about becoming big in both the Telugu States. The party is keen on occupying the Opposition Space AP and Telangana cashing on the distress of Congress and TDP, the main Opposition parties in both the states.
However, the reality has dawned upon the BJP with today’s Huzurnagar by-election. The party lost its deposit and could barely manage 3000 votes. The only solace is that it has done a bit better than TDP which is almost a nobody in Telangana Politics today. An Independent got a better number of votes than the BJP candidate.
Its high time BJP should stop dreaming and stay grounded in both states. The State Leaders should stop banking on the Modi wave and work on the ground to at least put up a decent performance in the upcoming elections. As of today, the dream of occupying the Opposition Space is a greedy ask.
