The fifth test between India and England which was supposed to start today stands canceled due to the COVID-19 outburst in the Indian Camp. “Due to fears of a further increase in the number of COVID cases inside the camp, India are regrettably unable to field a team,” the ECB said in a statement.

The other coaching staff were identified as immediate contacts of Shastri. The series came under risk when Physio Yogesh Parmar tested positive two days before the fifth test. He was in close contact with several India players in the last week making things complicated.
